are you cleaning it. i cleaned mine today and now it runs much better. the idling is a lot smoother and the revs are less. whilst moving it is hard to tell if there is any difference. i am going to work out my mpg to see if it worked though. fingers crossed.

A quick test on a TDI is to unplug it and drive the car. If it runs better - it's bad. I clean mine regularly (every air filter change), but the 98's was bad when I got it - cleaning didn't help. I picked one up on sale at tdiparts.com

I disconnected mine and the car definitely runs better, so I need to pick a new one up, thank for link, gonna see how much. With the new sensor, does it run even better than when disconnecting the old one?

It should run better. When you disconnect the MAF it goes to a predetermined setting that is safe for the motor but not necessarily for the most power or MPG.
