Default Help! Broken vacuum actuator (fixed)

I replaced my vacuum hosing and got to the last hose between the N239 and the actuator that is connected to the valve. I gave it a slight twist and pull and apparently overdid it. The nipple snapped clean off the actuator.

I've bandaged it up with some epoxy putty, but I'm sure it is leaking like crazy.

Does anyone know the name of this part, where I can get a replacement, and how to get to it to take it off? It is conveniently located on the backside of the intake and hidden under the cowl.

Looks like part #9 http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=28793. Any ideas on where I can get one of these besides the dealership?

Yup...you're screwed. That part is not available separately and comes assembled with the EGR/ASV. Beau-coup bucks at the dealer. Your best bet now is to fix it or buy one used. They come up pretty frequently on the classifieds over on TDIclub, you might also be able to find one on ebay...albeit for more money.

Here is a trick to fix it. Take a "straw" off an aerosol can (like brake cleaner or something) and push it into the two pieces. Use a quality epoxy or JB-weld to neatly fuse it back together. When done, clip the straw off at the end. There is still enough of an opening through the straw for it to work properly.

Let this be a good lesson to you and others. Always cut old vacuum lines off of the nipples by slicing along the line where it fits over the nipple, they just don't slide off on their own. You have to be careful on the plastic nipples to not cut into them. But with some careful cutting you can easily peel the old vacuum line off without breaking the plastic nipples.

The nipple where the vacuum tubing goes. The arm broke when I took it off the valve lever, too.

I was surprised at how easy it was to replace. Pop the arm off the valve lever and twist.

ya the fun part is getting it apart without breaking it

I had the benefit of having the EGR valve off the car

insert large flat screwdriver and pry gently... pop
