Default decreased mileage

I've got an '04 pd tdi (bew).I bought the car with 14500 kms on it and now has 139000kms. I practically do all highway driving (200kms a day/ 5 days a week)and have been religious with my maitenance since i've owned it.Oil changes, air & fuel filters, inj. cleaner ,timing belt (@129000).The most I've got out of a tank was 1080 kms but now i'm down to about 8-900kms/ tank, but the car still runs excellent. Any recommendations? Is there any routine maitenance I'm missing? I was thinking about the intake coking up but the dealer says this engine isn't prone to it?Is this B.S or is this something that should be periodically done? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey a fellow Nova Scotian!

I'm going through the same thing. Only getting ~850kms on a tank of Irving diesel. I have 165k on my 2001 TDI so I'm going to go talk to Dave at Harringtons about getting my intake system de-carbonized.

Hopefully they'll have a few more maintenance suggestions while it's there.

I have 3 TDI's and find that I get less KM's per tank with Irving Fuel.
Here on the Island I use North Atlantic Fuel.

I get a huge decrease in MPG with bio diesel mixed fuel.

Replacing your injectors would be a good idea, they tend to start "dribbling" fuel and not getting as complete of a burn.

You are the first I've heard of anyone getting decreased mileage with biodiesel fuel. Not usually any gains but not usually any losses. Certainly not significant losses at that. A friend of mine has been running biodiesel in his '06 Jetta TDI and he's had no issues. Remember that biodiesel acts as a solvent and will clean out your lines. You could be getting junk in your fuel fileter when you run bio.

I get the same or better mileage with B20. Quality varies between brands. to the OP - do you always fill up at the same station?

Maybe in my head, i didn't actually measure it, but it sure seemed to suck it down faster.

Thanks for the interest guys! I figured out what it was and I'm glad it's nothing mechanical!! I took my summer rims & tires off (225/45/(17x8)), put my winters on 205/55/16 & voila, back up over 1k/tank ! Yay!!
