Default blower motor bad? no fan!!!

i have a 99 beetle. My fan is no longer working. When i turn the nob to 1 or 4 nothing happens. Ive also noticed when i hit the ac button it doesnt turn yellow anymore either. Ive checked the normal fuses by the door panel. Is there a bigger fuse under the dash where all the relays are? I reallly dont wantt to rip my dash apart to try to fix this. Any suggestions? Thanks

I was going to say that maybe your fan is clogged? I know insulation from somewhere keeps blowing out of mine, and at one point it stopped the fan altogether. But with the light not being on with the A/C could just be bad timing on a bulb, or maybe a short. I wish I could help more, but I don't know any info really. I do believe there is a fuse panel below the steering wheel, you have to remove that plastic piece and there might be some there. Maybe take the very top side panels off? I don't know. hopefully someone else will have more information. I'm really not much help, but I feel for ya.

If the fan switch goes bad the ac button will not light up.All three of the controls,ac button and recirculate button are on the sameunit.you may need to replace it.My fan speed control broke and that was what it was.
