Default Recommendations for Service Center in Burbank, CA Area

I just picked up my first VW Bug an 02 TDI which I was very happy to get, not well cared for but with a little work should be just fine. The place where I had the car inspected indicates that the cam belt is in need of replacing and a couple seals, along with the oil pan. I would rather have the work done near my home rather than drive down to the San Diego area where I had the inspection done since that is where I purchased the car. Does anyone have any recommendations of a shop that will use aftermarket parts along with oem and good and reasonable with what they do??

Cheers,
Matt

These would be the only two that I could recommend without question, the others I dont know much about. Just because they are on the "Trusted" list doesn't always mean they are good with timing belts and other critical components. Shops often also change hands, techs come and go...things change so it pays to do your research. With Scott or Leonard, I have no concerns. They know what they are doing and they are very fair. They will do the job the right way and replace all necessary components as it is not just the belt. There is also the water pump, tensioner and 3 other rollers to replace.

I'm guessing you bought an auto? I would also have them do a fluid/filter service on it now and every 30k miles to help keep it going as long as possible. It will probably also need an intake cleaning and some other small items as well.

Good luck, and dont forget to check out TDIclub.
