1999 beetle tdi - blue light stays on all the time is the sensor for this in the res tank

Its probably the coolant temperature sensor, which is on the engine. Not sure where abouts it is on a TDI, but I know on my 2.0L, its on the drivers side. If you take off the engine cover you can get to it easily. The sensors are known to fail. There is a newer sensor to replace it with, known as the "green top", meaning that the sensor is green. They are super cheap. $30 for the whole replacement (sensor, o-ring and clip). You can get it at the dealer or online somewhere like GermanAutoParts.com: GermanAutoParts.com

Yup, its on the coolant flange on the left (drivers) side of the head. If you're fast you can change it without losing much coolant.

Wont that particular sensor throw a cel code? I replaced that sensor 8 months ago

no codes on the TDI site there is a guy who is going to help me update the blue sensor to the green they said the green is a better switch
