Default Car keeps mysteriously dying

My car is an '02. I've had a problem recently where the car will cut off while I'm driving. If I'm driving at a decent speed it'll come back on, but if I'm coming to a stop or in a slow turn it'll just die. Or sometimes when I first get in and try to start it, it'll act like the battery is dead, clicking when I turn the key and not turning over or cranking. But if I sit for a while, eventually it'll decide to start. I've taken it to a mechanic and he says he's driving it around waiting for it to do what I described. He doesn't seem to know what it might be. Anyone ever had this problem before?

My first thought would be battery and ground connections, including the ECU ground connection.
