Default Is my Cat dying?

On my 2002 1.9TDi PD Beetle I'm getting a jingling sort of noise from my Catalytic Converter. I thought it was the Turbo or associated pipes but they are all fine and after getting it up on the ramp the noise is deffo from the Cat.

Is this a sign its dying, I also get a vibration from that area at around 2k rpm, although everything is tight under the car, its no biggie if its going tbh just gives me an excuse to remove it and fit a straight thru pipe, I just wanna know if this is the likely thing

This is the noise i'm getting from my Cat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2B9TWx1G0Ow you can hear it best 53 seconds into the vid

I had a rattle from my Cat when it was on its way out. Though I had the rattle for a few months before I got the CEL, so at first I assumed it was a lose heat shield. You'll likely end up getting a CEL for P0420, though it may not be right away.

Sounds like the beginnings of the DMF death rattle to me. Manual or DSG trans?

I've got a manual.

I'm 99% sure it isnt from the transmission, I've had it up on a ramp and the noise is deffo from the Cat, from the transmission area itself everything seems silent. The noise doesn't alter or change whether the clutch is engaged or otherwise or whether the car is moving or stationary.
