Default 02 New Beetle TDI Question

The question I have is --- My speedometer & odometer are not working. The odometer is stuck on the current mileage/and trip meter not turning either.

The gas gauge & tach work fine?

Is this most likely a SPEED SENSOR in need of replacement, or is there a bunch of other possibilities? I am just trying to narrow this down somehow.

Thanks for any insight you can give!

Joe

Most likely a cluster replacement needed.

Default RE: Cluster

I see. So speed sensor is probably out of the question?

If I get a used cluster --- of course the mileage is going to show differently will it hook right up and be flawless, or have to have some sort of re-programming?

Well, I am no mechanic, but in the past, I've seen the answer to your question, the cluster. Hopefully someone more mechanically inclined will chime in. Good luck to you!

You'll need to find someone with a Vag - Com to adjust the mileage on the cluster I would imagine. I think you can get new clusters on ECS...but I don't know for sure.

You can. They're on sale for $40-$50 too depending on the car.

For a link to ECS, click my signature, put in your car info at the top then type cluster in the searchbox there.

Mine did the same thing and the problem was a blown fuse. #31 to be exact. Then again, I've done the 5 speed swap and that fuse is for the automatic transmission computer. Don't ask me how power gets from there to the speedo/odo.
