98 tdi wont start
i have a 98 tdi and cant get it to start with the key. Soooooo replaced the starter. well that didn't do it. so i ran a wire a wire from the solenoid and turned the key on and went to the front of the car and touched the wire to the hot side and wala it started.....now my question is whats up...is there some kinda fuesable link or a relay some where. it was doing that now and then before but now it is staying that way.

There is a starter lock relay in your main relay panel. Under the steering wheel on the left side. Also if the car is manual, there is switch on the clutch, which prevents the car from starting if the clutch is not engaged.
