Mufflerectomy, what should I do for a down pipe?

I want to take off the muffler and cat, should I get a down pipe off of eBay, or just go to a muffler shop and have them weld on a pipe?
Is there a part online that's a simple bolt on?

My friend found some downpipes on eBay for under $100, I was just wondering what other people did to their cars.

I did the muffler and left the cat,just had pipe added to replace it.If your downpipe is still good I wouldn't replace it,you can just replace from the downpipe back.

Hacked off at the end of the stock muffler is a good spot to just put on another can type and call it a day. Still pretty quiet but you can hear the turbine whistle.

You realize that removing the cat is illegal right? All shops are forbidden to do this legally. If you sell the car it must be put back to stock condition or they will probably turn you in. Just so you make an informed decision.
