Default help! broken block at frt engine mount

I am in the Dallas TX area and this morning my engine dropped. I found the ear of the block where the front motor mount bolts up is broken. I am looking for eigher someone who can drop engine and repair block or repalce with good used engine. I'll pay cash for the right mechanic.

Its not so much a VW problem as it is a crappy mechanic problem. Do the job right and this doesn't happen.

Wow, I had never seen or heard of this happening before either, but glad to see there is a very reasonable fix out there for it.

I have that repair on mine, last owner had timing belt done by somebody that reused bolts and even put one in that wasn't the correct one.My son borrowed my bug and the engine dropped on him.Glad I had an aluminum skid plate on,it keep the engine from dropping far enough to hurt anything.I had a heck of a time getting the broken bolts out.I replaced them with the proper bolts and did the repair from dieslegeek.Had a trusted TDI guru do the timing belt about a month after that and haven't had any other problems.Contact Marin at marinmm2001@yahoo.com if you need a good VW mechanic or go to www.TDICLUB.com to find a TDI mechanic.
