Default Service schedule for '06 TDI with 100+K?

I rolled over 100,000 miles on my 2006 TDI last week. My service manual only covers the first 100K miles. When I took it in for the 100K service, the tech put a reminder sticker on my windshield saying to change oil again at 105K.

I've always followed the VW service manual for my service intervals, which is every 10K (after the initial ones at 5K and 10K). Is it okay to still change oil every 10,000 miles, or should I shorten that to every 5k?

I've put a lot of money into the service of my TDI, hoping that will help to ensure that I can put a lot more miles on it. We did the timing belt replacement at 80K, and I have had zero mechanical issues with it (except for the failure last week of the brake booster pump).

I wish the service manual covered more mileage, especially since 100K on a TDI is nowhere near the end of the road.

I think the 2nd 100,000 follows the same service intervals as the first, unless it is not evenly divisible into 100,000, such as the DSG service interval at 40,000. But oil changes, fuel filters, and things like that you can continue as you are.

x2, only stands to reason. Would be no reason to increase service intervals on anything. The only difference is going to be, instead of "check this or that" will become "replace this or that"!

Have you changed the belt? It should be done.

And lots of other not so major things in between and along the way. Pretty much just start over as if you were at the 10k mark in the Service Schedule, adjusting for the scheduled intervals as necessary. I can put up a .pdf of the Service Schedule from an '05 (should be the same), if you don't have an OM with the it.

I like that the service schedule stops at 100-105k, but you'll keep getting reminders for services later (but of course they don't bother to tell you what it entails). I mean, of course you should still maintain the car, but at a certain amount of miles...its amusing to say the least. My husband got a reminder for service when he had his '95 Passat. "A reminder, its almost time for your 225,000 mile service!" He almost wanted to call the dealer and ask what it entailed. I don't think VW quite expects people to keep their cars much past 100k.

Yes, we did the belt. Looks like I just keep doing what we're doing.

Thanks! The Org is the best.

Ha! I saw my salesman in there the other day, and he asked me how many miles I had now. I told him 100K and he said, "You know they explode at 100K, don't you?" I told him it better not.

They do keep after me to trade for new, since there aren't many '06 diesels out there, but lots of people who would like to buy one. Mine is actually a 2007 body with the diesel engine in it. We are expecting our first grandbaby next fall, and while the NB may be the coolest grandma car ever, it certainly won't be the most practical. I am kinda interested in the Passat and Jetta diesels-- but when I see them I just see a 'car'. My Putter is not just any other 'car.'
