Default How many miles is too many?

I found this on Craigslist and am wondering how many miles is too many. This 2006 has 264XXX and is autotragic (which from what I've read on here can be swapped for stick for about 2500$) and would otherwise appear to be a great price, but how many more miles could I expect to get out of it? Should I keep looking for something with lower miles?

2006 VW New Beetle TDI

I tend to do a some city driving, but love to travel 4+ hours to visit friends on the weekends, so I tend to put 15-20K miles a year.

[edit: I wanted to subscribe and couldn't figure out how else to do it.]

the miles on that don't scare me, the price does. If there is a proper service record 500k is easily got with tdi's. just for a comparison i just purchased one with 225k for $700, but did need a timing belt job done on it. it had a complete service record as well.

it was however dirty as joe dirt and still needs a good scrubbing inside and out.

DSG's are harder to swap from a wiring standpoint. There are only a couple guys who have figured it out but they aren't sharing their info just yet.

That is the highest mileage PD I have seen. Any maintenance history? Cam and lifters are an issue on these engines. And if the fuel injectors are original then you would be looking at some expensive injector work, they aren't as cheap and easy as the ALH engines.

Thanks for the advice guys. Guess it's one of those if-it-sounds-too-god-to-be-true-then-it-probably-is type of deals.
