Hello guys,
Proud owner of a '98 New Beetle TDI with ~213k miles. I love my bug and want to keep her as long as possible, that's why I want whats best for her... I've read mixed suggestions as to the recommended oil for her with the mileage she has. I've used synthetic... Is that good? Should I have to change oil every 3k or 6k using synthetic? What would be the proper viscosity with an engine this "experienced"?? =) Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, David |

Always synthetic, 5w-40 or 0w-40 (winter if you experience extreme cold) diesel rated oil. I prefer Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w-40 or Shell Rotella T6 5w-40. Oil change interval is every 10k miles. Any shorter and you are only wasting money and INCREASING WEAR.
