Question Oil Change rather than..

I fill my oil up when it is needed, but having read a thread that the Bug's Oil is changed every 3,000 miles or so. Is that a better course of action ?

Or does it not really matter that much and topping it up is fine ?

Topping it up is fine. Turbo at 5k miles, non-turbo at 10k for oil and filter changes. Synthetic for both, 0w40 or 5w40.

Top up as needed in between your oil changes. But if you are topping up a lot, you may want to find out why.

if you are topping it off a lot check your intercooler hose to see if there is oil buildup down there, put a catch below it so you can see how much comes out.
