No Start

I experienced my first NO START event with my 2000 TDI

After a 30 minute freeway drive I exited and stopped at a store for 10 minutes, went to leave and the engine just cranked at normal speed but did not start.
Tried a couple times without success, was getting ready to call the tow truck.
Fuel tank was 1/2 full, no CEL.
Waited a couple more minutes and this time it started and has been fine ever since.

Any typical diesel idiosyncrasy come to mind ??

I don't have a Diesel but this is a common issue with all Beetle's if the Crankshaft positioning Sensor is going bad.
Do you have a CEL on? Even if not. Go ahead and have it scanned at Autozone and let us know what codes came up.

Relay 109 can cause problems with starting in TDIs
