Default losing power on hills

Wondering if anyone has had a problem with losing power on hills at about 75mph - even small ones...I have a 2000 NB with about 100,000 miles. No problem with power at lower in town speeds or no hills

Cool

I've had my '99 since new (51K miles). I can still accellerate up a 6% grade in 5th, alone, with the a/c on but I am running a 2.0 gas, not a 1.9 TDI...

Tons of torque in your 1.9, so there should be no reason. Changed your fuel filter lately?

As much as it pains me to say it, you may want to try your luck over on

http://forums.tdiclub.com/postlist.p...=0&Board=UBB44

for questions that partain only to the TDI. As a beetle owner I spend my time here, but for TDI questions, I must say I spend it there.

PS read with an open mind, and don't get bogged down with all the "I know more about TDI's because my wrench is longer" crap. There is a lot of valuable TDI info over there, but 90% of it is just plain fluff.

As for your problem I would check MAF and or intake clogging first, as these are the 2 most likely culprits of power loss, but a smooth running engine otherwise.

Yes, clogged intake or MAF, or both. All the info is at tdiclub, but it's good to post here first to see if someone has already sorted out the advise from that site.

I would place my money on it being a clogged intake. Take the six hours and do the cleaning yourself. It is worth the work to feel the power return to your car.

I have started to spray some deep crease sea foam in my intake every 5,000 miles in hopes of keeping the intake from clogging up again. Mine was terrible, about a dime sized hole in the carbon build up.

Try the intake before the MAF. The MAF is easier to replace, but if it does not fix the problem right off, you generally can't take the part back.

Just my 2cents. Tdiclub has a ton of good information on doing this.

I will find all the documents I got from TDI club and post them here. (May take a while as I recently formatted my computer and have yet to dig through my backups...)

Also, look into the intake cleaning service from www.dieselgeek.com
