No no, I read enough to know that I do not put soap on the top... I just rinsed it off and used a brush (although I need to buy a new one, the bristles were falling out).
I wondered for sudsing up the body of the car... it didnt' work on the soap setting.
Other than that, it worked great and I used the filtered water on the top to prevent water spots.
