Default 2002 GLS 2.0L engine codes AVH & AZG

Hello,

My engine code sticker in the trunk says, AVH yet the sticker on the timing belt cover says, AZG. I know both of these codes are drive by wire throttle controlled cars, but any ideas why the different codes on the same car? Anybody else have this?

Thanks,

Wow, you dug up a old post. Do you have the same situation? If VW is like other manufactures, the car was scheduled to get a AVH (2001 & up) engine and the body was labeled to get one. Most likely, by the time it reached the area in the assembly line that puts in the engine, they ran out of the AVH and had to use a AZG (2002 & up).
For an example......I have a 1989 Dodge(one of the last ones built for 89)and they ran out of 89 V-8 318CI, and had to use a 1990 V-8. It has a complete different ignition. So, when I have to get a cap and rotor for a tune-up, I have to get ones for a 1990.
