Default Drawing LOTS of power while shut off

The wife's '99 is doing the following:

-Battery is dropping from a solid 13.5v to 10.2v overnight.
(changed battery before I really got into troubleshooting the problem)
-Checked for any lights or accessories left on. None found.
-Voltage from alternator while running is 14.1v. (no problem there)
-Unhooked the ground at the battery and checked for draw with everything off. It's drawing 12.5 Pulled all fuses one at a time and that number wouldn't drop.
-The only thing I was able to narrow down(at least I hope)is that many of the engine fuses (little picture of an engine and electric bolt and the (!) fuses) show a 12.5 draw even when everything is off.

Any clues, ideas, or more trouble shooting checks?

Default Dead Battery ..

Sounds like your old battery is just dieing. To check for current draw, you will need to insert a current meter in series with one of the battery leads. You will see a very small current draw in the milliamp range (sorry, but I don't know what is normal). When a battery reads 10.2 volts, yeah its dead! Does the voltage on the battery rise (appx 14V when running? That would indicate a good alternator - quick check.

Could also be a bare wire somewhere.

Problem occurs with new battery as well as the old one.

I'm still at a loss as to where this parasitic power loss is coming from. I'm wondering if it's ECM or a relay. Maybe a timer that's not shutting down? I know some vehicles keep some systems energized up to 20min after shutdown.

Geckoho,

You might try the security circuit. Does the battery voltage drop if the car remains unlocked overnight? Had something like you describe happen to me, but not everyday or all the time. Turned out to be the truck release motor that opens the trunk when you use the keyless entry. Just a thought
