Is this a 2.0L gas engine? What year? Manual or automatic transmission?
Mine is a 2.0L '98 manual. At 60mph it's just below 3000rpm, at 70mph it's just above 3000rpm, at 80mph it's around 3500rpm. This is all in 5th gear. Hope it helps ![]()

I have a '98 Automatic 2.fast (yeah, I said it!), and at 80MPH, I'm doing about 3750-3800 rpms. Don't know about the other two, as there's too much traffic at those speeds to check these things
![]() I know this question have been asked before, and in one of the posts there's a link to a site where you can select which NB you have, and it'll tell you all this info.

Yup, bigger engines are designed to have more torque so it could carry a heavier car. Some design are strocker which could vary from piston rods. Shorter ones can haul heavier body but does not necessarily means it's fast. But typical Japanese cars are torky unlike Euros. If the 4 cylinder car will have a lower RPM, it's could be faster and better in mpg BUT it will have a hard time carrying loads or passengers.

I've looked at this issue (freeway rpms) many times whilst driving up 'n down I-5. The tach in my '99 GLS 2.0 5 spd. is at 2900 rpm @ 60, 3400 rpm @ 70 and just about 4000 rpm at 80 mph.
