Default Engine turns off

This is my problem, I left my bug for about 15 days without using and I tried to start he didnt start and was making some weird noises like morse code in the dashboard area. I took out the battery and charged it. It did start but now he cant stay idle it just turns off. Ive been asking a lot of people, someone told me to reset the computer and some other to check the throttle body because it might be a lil dirty. I really dont know what happened, it was just working as sweet as candy but after this it just dissapointed me. please help me I dont know what to do.

all pre-MY2001 2.0s are drive by cable, it's not your throttle body alignment, dirty perhaps, but not alignment (you often have to align a drive by wire 2.0's throttle body w/ a computer). Have you checked your vacuum lines?

No, I haven't checked that, also they told me that the bug has an electronic valve that might be causin this problem. The car just runs perfect in high rpm's or mid rpm's. The only thing is this idle issue. Thanks btw, i'll take a look at the vaccum lines.

Classic throttle body adaption issue.

On the earlier mk4 VWs with the 2.0L engine when battery power was lost the ECM would loose the info about the throttle body and the result is an engine that starts up, runs for about 2 seconds then dies. This issue was resolved somewhere with the mid/late 01 VWs.

At any rate, to resolve this, you need to do a throttle body adaption. Find someone with VAG COM and go into engine electronics, basic settings, channel 060 or 098 (01-04-060 or 01-04-098). This will resolve the issue.

Side note, if you don't alarm the car, then there will be a larger draw on the battery. When the alarm is armed, varuios control modules go to sleep. Alarm not armed, the stay away and will drain on the battery. I would also suggest looking into scoring one of those VW solar panels. You should find them from free to $30, just depends on who you know.

Hope this info is useful and that I find my car keys before 7:30AM so I can drive to work.

That was very useful pencilneck.........now that you mentioned this Vag-Com.....im building my own interface for using this program. I will have to accelerate my process and look in for those values you told me. Ive never used vag-com before but I guess is nothing out of this world. I'll try and let you know. Thanx!!

P.D. My car wasnt armed while it was parked, i didnt knew about this sleep type of thing.
