Default Transmission ?

I have a 1999 NB, 2.0, auto. Has anyone ever had or heard of transmission troubles with these cars. Mine, when its cold will slip in 1st gear and makes a popping noise. Once it warms up, it runs fine. Just wondering it anyone else is having the same problem. Thanks

I have had similar troubles with my 99 auto. How many miles are do you have? It may be that you are in need of a transmission fluid and filter change. I believe that you should change the fluid every 60,000 at the latest. Some claim every 40,000. I changed mine for the first time over 100k at the time and the fluid was so black and lost it's viscous properties that I was kicking myself for not doing it sooner. Also I called my dealer ship about this and they say that it's life time and not to change it, but the powertrain warrenty is for only 60k. I would do some searching out there for more information. There is a great right up some where on the org about how to do the change.

You could be slipping gears. I actually had to have the synchronistic gears in mine replaced. Luckily this was all covered under the power train warranty. Depending on the amount of miles you have on your car it might still be covered. I had the dealership rebuild mine...it took about a day.
