Car feels like it wants to stall out

This is on my mothers 01 2.0 AVH, 28K miles. When she is sitting at a intersection. The car starts to sputter a little. This has happened about two years ago also. She brought it in to the dealer. They didn't find any codes for the problem. A CEL hasn't popped on this time also. She had all the spark plugs replaced at 20K. I don't have a clue to what it could be. I have a idea it might be the MAF or vacuum lines? But wouldn't those throw a code?

My girlfriends car is doing the same thing, but more too. At idle her car sputters and shakes the car, it is very noticable. Any info on this would be great.

My mother took the car to Autozone to get scanned, no codes. She then took it to a local German Auto Mechanic. He found a hole in one of the Vacuum lines. He also replaced the plug wires. Well the car still has the problem. She will be taking it in to the dealer on friday. I told her to bring the MAF extended warrenty paper VW sent her years ago. I hope this is the problem.
