Default Program Keyless entry

How do you program a 1999 VW bug keyless entry Switchblade style FOB. The key broke out of the switchblade and I had to weld a washer to it to turn it in the ignition. I now have a new switchblade and uncut key. How do I program the fob?

Put 1 key in the ignition and turn ignition on but don't start the engine. Get out of car and shut door.

Put second key into door lock and turn and hold in the lock position, while holding key in door in lock position, click the lock button on the remote twice in a row, alarm horn should *beep*. Remove from door and ignition and test remote.

VAG COM way... 46-10-00, do it. -10-01, how many remote? Do it, then click the lock button on each remote once, alarm horn should *beep* with each remote.

Hope that helps out.
