The coolant light you're talking about - was it blue in the upper right hand side? How long did you drive until you go to work? I ask because this symbol (solid blue) is just telling you that the engine is cold. If it flashes, either red or blue, then there's a problem.
That's good mileage for an 01. Do you know the trim level? How much are they asking? Dealer or private seller?

...yeah, I would def try to get that price down. I bought my GLX '00 with 42k miles for about 9 grand-ish. Is it from a dealership? If not, I would get it checked out by a mechanic.
Sounds like that was just the temp light that was on. Especially since you only drove a short distance, it probably didn't have enough time to get fully warmed up. Nothing to worry about there ![]() |

Do you live in Italy, Kelly?
I currently have a 1.8, but have driven a 2.0 before. You can definitely tell a difference, the 1.8 is more peppy and has a great pick up. But since it has the turbo, that means more parts could potentially break down the road. But really, it's more fun so who cares As far as leather vs. cloth, it's really a personal preference. If both cars are in the exact same shape cosmetically and have low mileage, I see no reason why you wouldn't want to go with the 1.8. |

I guess I misunderstood in the first post where you said "hey im kelly"
I would try to get it down to $10.5 -- anyone else wanna chime in and think that's reasonable? How's the body look? Any damage? Inside looks good? Tire tread? Get on a freeway and drive it hard a little bit, go through all the gears, make sure it runs good. If you hear a noise (like the squeak on the pass side), get it checked out BEFORE you buy. |

Take your time. I test drove about 7 Beetles before I found the one for me. Here's what I did:
I went on a bunch of websites and got a collection of NBs together that I was interested in. There were a LOT. I slowly sifted through them and eventually narrowed it down to less than 10 that I wanted to take a look at. I set aside an entire day to go from dealership to dealership and check each one out. Turns out the last one I saw was the one I ended up buying Just be patient and make sure you do your research. |

Hi Kelly
i have a '01 NB, and if i were to buy a NB from a stealer in the UK, then i would be looking to pay around £6500, not sure what that is in Dollars but i think it is around $1.90 to the pound. I would look to buy private and make sure you have it checked over by a mechanic. The things that you might need to replace are the oxygen sensors on the catalytic converter , the MAF sensor and all the usual consumables.Hope this helps & happy hunting![]() |
