Default Plug Wires Diagram?

New 1999 Beetle 2.0 owner here. Had some CELs, 3 of 4 plugs were misfiring. Bought some Bosche + 4 plugs and some new wires. Dummy me forgot to pay attention when pulling the plug wires. Below is how I currently have them hooked up. The car starts, but the idle is uber-rough and the car studders and conks out.

Assuming the plugs are numbered like this(left to right):

(1) (2) (3) (4)

ok, so the text editor doesn't like my picture. Here are how I have the wires. Clockwise, starting from the far, top right, 1, below that is 3, to the left of that is 4 and above that is 2.

Please help me!

Thank you so much.

Not sure if this will help. I didn't read the whole thing.

Is there a sticker somewhere under the hood? I know they are there sometimes, though they can be rather hard to find.

Not that I can see. I just need to know the correct order of the plug wires into the distributor...

Sorry I couldn't help more. I have a TDI and the last gasser I had made it impossible to scew up the order. The wires didn't fit unless they were all in the right order.

Try searching the forums. I used the words "spark plugs" to find what I posted for you.

Good Luck!

Got it. It should be 1, 4, 2 and then 3. I hope this does it. By the way, my hands are shredded. This is by far the smallest engine compartment I have EVER worked in!

I got some of those and they sucked.
I'd go with the very safe NGK plugs. Could be part of your problem.
