Default Oil Change

I bought my daughter a 2000 VW beetle with the 2.0 liter gas engine. It is time for an oil change, filter, air filter and plugs. Can you give me recommendations for this car?

Thank You

oil: 5W40 (I use Castrol Syntec)
plugs: when you do the plugs, it's best to do the wires too
cabin air filter: is under the dash on the passenger side. You'll need a torx screwdriver, but first slide the panels out starting with the top central panel.
you might want to do the fuel filter while you're at it - it's located by the rear passenger tire. Good luck, and welcome

sure: Synthetic 5w30 oil, k&n drop in air filter, and Bosch plugs, get a plug wire tool, and new plugs. I'm not sure what gap is needed for the 2.0 plugs; and don't have any suggestions in regards to the wire brand.

Interesting... some parts a very difficult to get. Couldn't even order plug wires, had to order the cabin air filter and they only had one option for the plugs.

Anyone else experiance this? Where do you get your parts for your car?

Thanks

what? um, autozone; or the internet usually.

What do you mean they can't even order plug wires? Do you really have a 2.0 motor? (the others don't use wires)

The motor is definitely a 2.0 liter fuel injected 4 cylinder and I went to Autozone for the parts and the guy showed me on the computer that he didn't even have an option to order the plug wires....

I even pulled the black cover off of it to see how difficult it would be to get to the plugs and there are wires there.

They do. I got my wire plugs from them with lifetime warranty. The have in their system for some unknown reason two different kind of 2.0L engines. Have the guys take a look at the engine and compare the wire plugs. When I purchased mine, the gentleman came out and took a look at the engine to compare wires. Good luck

You have got to be kidding me.... air filter change is ridiculous.... oil filter probably has never been changed and who ever did it last I'd like to strangle, they must have seen how tight they could get it and plugs... please

But it's done, accept for the fuel filter and cabin air filter. Took me longer then expected so I'll tackle those today.

I know the dealer tightens the oil filters pretty tight. I had mine done there once (had a coupon for a free oil change). Then my bf went to change it the next time and he had a heck of a time getting it off.

I haven't done the fuel or air filter in my car since I got it (a little over 2 years ago...). Hopefully going to get to that this summer

Be careful not to break the clips that hold the fuel filter, or you'll be getting a whole new brakeline...
