Only one way to tell if it needs servicing. Take it into an A/C service center. They will check it out. It could just be dirt on the condenser (in front of the radiator).
If it is one of the center vents, a common problem is that the plastic control rod falls off of the vent lever. It takes a while, but you can fix it by removing the radio and putting it back into place.

Yep take it to someone for an a/c check. Before you do look in your local SUNDAY paper normally in the sports section for the automotive coupons. You will most likely find an a/c check coupon for anywhere around 19.95 or 29.95. Grab it up and take it in. With an 02 you will most likely have a freon leak or possibly the compressor is crapping out on ya. But there is still a slight chance that it may need just an evac and recharge.
