i had the same problem and now it is worse. i am at the point where i have to put my car in neutral at a stop sign cause i think my car will stall cause it shakes so bad. i took it to advance auto parts to have them hook their meter to it and they say i need new plugs and wires. Not sure if this helps you, i'm still waiting to fix mine cause i'm waiting for a second opinion.

I have the same problem when she's cold. But I've been trying to solve it for quite some time with no solid results. In y'alls, you're probably having a simple misfire and you should change your plugs and wires. Could also be the coil pack. Maybe a motor mount. But I'd def start with plugs. Good luck.

There is a code guide somewhere around here. Go ahead and post them up.

When was the last time you changed you plugs and wires? It sounds to me like you may be in for a tune up. I replaced the coil, plugs and wires. Then, I cleaned the MAF and TB and no more problems or codes. Good luck!

I have the PO303 and PO172. My husband told me that we need to change the plug and wires. Probably they never were changed. Imagine that when I checked the air filter, It was the original (wsame with fuel filter) and it is a 99.

I will check the wires and spark plugs.

TB is throttle body and yes it has to come off to change the spark plugs although some will tell you it doesn't have to. I see no other way to do it.
No you dont have to lift the motor to change plugs just the water pump.

I've changed the plugs numberous times without taking anything off. The throttle body isn't even close to the plugs. We are talking about the 2.0, right? Just get a long ratched extension and you'll be fine.

or to make it easier.. go get an allen wrench and take off the top intake manifold and it be easier than a butter.. just my two cent opinion.. definetly u will need a tune up, coil, spark plug n wires.. might want to check your fuel filter too and belts since your there for a tune up... no need to lift your engine and go underneath.. becuase your coil is below the sai pump, the spark plug is under the intake manifold and u should be set up.. goodlcuk.. Shoots

thanks for the tips guys.

I went to AAP today and bought The Haynes Repair Manual for my car and it looks like it will be a lot of help in letting me fix my car instead of the car repair places charging me an arm and a leg.

Going to try and clean the MAF by myself tommorow.

Sweet. The manuals def help a lot. Cleaning the MAF is really easy. CDC makes a special MAF cleaner that you just spray on there. Just be real careful with the MAF; sorta delicate and way overpriced. If it is dirty, it'll help with idle and stuff. Good luck!
