My daughters 2000 Beetle has had the check engine light staying on for a few days and then going off for a few days. It has been doing this for about 3 weeks now. It seems to be running fine. I took the car to AutoZone today and they plugged the computer to it and got the code P1582. It gives three possible problems.
Idle Adapation At limit Electronic Throttle monitor data available Cruise control Module direction low input. Any thoughts on what any of these means and how serious it is. Is it alright to drive or take it straight to the dealer. |

The correct code is:
17990 P1582 Idle Adaptation at Limit Usually means the throttle body has a problem. Try using some throttle body cleaner (not carb cleaner) to get the gunk out.
