Default At wit's END!!!!

OK, I have just about had it with this car. We've had the car for about a year and 14,000 miles. Had to replace the window switches, window regulators, power mirror switch, all headlight/taillight bulbs, multiple dash bulbs, and the blower fan motor. In the last 10 weeks, everything has decided to go wrong. Most recently, the coolant fans refused to shut off, thereby draining the battery and leaving the wife stranded. So, I replaced the coolant fan module. Problem solved. BUT, 3 days later, the A/C decides to only blow cold air when the engine revs at 2500 or above, the outside temp display quit working (but the clock works), and the brake warning light has come on and refuses to go off. I have replaced the brake light switch at the dealer, checked the rear brakes (pads and all hardware are fine), brake lines, boots, etc. NOTHING! I pulled the center console out, thinking it might be the e-brake switch. Disconnected it. Light still stayed on. Anybody have ANY ideas? We have decided to sell this hunk of junk and go buy a reliable car, a Honda. But, I like to try and get as much working as possible before I do. BTW- I'll have a Bentley Service Manual on CD for sale as soon as this car is gone....

Damn. I hate hearing these stories. But no car is perfect. I can't offer much in terms of service advice, just wishes of luck that you get it all fixed and get a car that you can rely on.

Well, its unfortunate that you have had so many problems with your car. I see from your signature that you have a '99. I know the early models on these cars had some issues. Not to say they all don't but earlier ones tend to have more. I have been lucky with my '99 *knock on wood* You may just have a car with a lot of problems, but it happens. If you want to try to get the stuff fixed, getting the car scanned for codes might be something to try. That could tell you what is causing the problems. I'm not sure as to why all that is happening to your car otherwise. But I'm sure someone here can lend a helping hand!

Best of luck to you though.

Have you tried to top up the brake fluid? The light will come on if it's low.

To fix the thermometer, try disconnecting it from the car, and reconnecting it (the connector from the mirror assembly to the wiring harness). Most cases, that will reset it.
