Default reset check engine light

I have surfed through the forums but cant find a way to
reset the check engine light myself. Is there a way (turn key on and hold button ??) or does the dealer NEED to do it ??
Thanks

Take it to your local Auto-Zone,They will pull the codes and tell ya whats causing it,But they will not erase it....Unless you know them well. Other that that,Get yourself the Vag-Com setup or find a fellow orger with one near you.

Vag Com - Sharing Thread

there's a few different sources for lists of vag-com owners willing to help fellow enthusiasts. (The multiple sources are at the bottom of the first post.)

Or, if you're sure the problem has been corrected, the code should reset it'self after 20 or so cycles. Althought I can't for the life of me remember what the technical definition of 'cycle' would be.
