I definatley have fuel. The pump is priming im not sure about the relay but im sure I have fuel at the motor. To change the TB im assuming I need a VAG-COM to set it up.

I should have just bought the scan tool from the start. Oh well it needed a new fuel pump, filter and plugs anyway.

Changed throttle body ran adaptation with vag com. Still wont run. It still showing the same code:17951 P1543
Throttle Actuation Potentiometer Signal too Low
.

Now its making a loud screeching sound that I think is the starter but i dont think it has anything to do with the no start problem.

At this point im thinking computer or maybe a throttle body control module if there is one?

This is getting frustating!!!

Go to a junkyard and find a low-mileage throttlebody.

I got one for $85 last month with like 20K on it.

I'm getting the impression that you are still in square one, so, after everything you done, can you summarize the problem? ... i.e. list all of the parts you have replaced and explain what it still does and/or does not do.

I performed a search for "Throttle Actuation Potentiometer" and "17951 P1543" in my online Bentley Manual and it showed me this for the AEG Engine... check the wires to the throttle body to see if you have good connection and none are frayed or broken; do the same for the MAF sensor.

I still feel that im on square one that's for sure.

I have changed: the fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs, oil,oil filter, battery, throttle body. I have also sprayed all the possibly related connections with electronic cleaner.

I have fuel, spark and air. I am getting exhaust so im assuming nothing is clogged up.

What happens is: it cranks fine but almost immediatly dies out playing with the throttle has gotten it to start with a very very rough idle a few times but it is backfiring very bad into the air box and dies within 5 seconds anyway. It is still showing only that 1 code.

All the wires look good. Im gonna hook it up to the vag-com in about an hour and try again

Seeing as it has been sitting for three years have you drained the fuel and replaced with new fuel? Bad gas will have the same effect. Not sure it would throw that code though but you did replcae the throttle body. Their should also be a TPS sensor that feeds the computer and tells it the position of the throttle blade, this can cause it to die, it feeds to much or to little fuel depending on the position of the blade. If the gas is new then check the TPS sensor and air flow meter. I'm New to bugs but not engines.

Problem solved!!!!!!!!!!

The guy that was helping didnt do the alignment then the adaptation. After we did that it started right up.

Now to catch up on the rest of the work that has to be done.

Thank you to everyone that helped me out!!!!!

Transmision is slipping real bad. I am assuming that it needs service. Lucky for me im still havent reached 100K miles or 10years so its the dealers problem. Lets see if it gets fixed

At first the car was throwing a code for TB alignment and also TB adaptation. But, apparently you have to run both of them with the vag-com one after the other without touching anything. That is where we messed it up! When we did it correctly the car started right up. !!!!

Now that it is running I replaced all the rotors and pads(the rotors were pitting really bad and I flushed all the green brake fluid out and filled it). I then took it to the local VW dealer and said the tranny was slipping real bad after they looked at it for a few day's it turns out I am going to get a new tranny at 94K miles!!!! once i get it back from the new tranny getting put in im going to throw the ECS ultimate timing belt kit plus at it.

With all that and the new fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs and wires I think it is going to be ready for another 94K miles!!

At least I hope so!!!
