Default engine life span

Hi, my '98 2.0 goes through about a quart of oil every thousand miles of normal driving. I recently did a 600 highway round trip and it didn't seem to burn any.

I'm now at 108K miles and am wondering how much more life the engine might have. My other vehicle is a Ford F150 and I'm thinking about stretching my gas dollars by driving the beetle more. But the AC isn't working, it could use new tires, some speakers don't work, etc. and I don't want to sink my stimulus check into it if it isn't going to last.

Thanks.

With only 44k miles on my 01, looks like I'll have it for a looooong loooong time!
