How about too rich mix? I think rich mix is fine with 91 octane and Cone filter on the air intake. Too rich might smell like driving behind rusty slammed honda, not that I do that, I just noticed they fart!

Giac, APR and REVO, ... ok.. Neuspeed too, are reputable and people do not complain. Unitronic on the other hand, gives smoothest performance chip for 2.0 VW for competitive price and they can install it over the OBDII port, in 30 minutes ... well, that's what I was told first time over the phone. Next time guy explains how they may have to solder new chip and how the software might not install corectly over the port. Then I e-mail other shop and they offer killer price and quick install, tonight! And they are down the street!!!
But!.... few people online complains about more smoke, so I asked if orgers know does it farts on our 2 liters and how's the Bug doing after Unitronic installation?! |

Why would you chip a 2.0L without a turbo or S/C upgrade? It's not really cost-effective to do so. Now, if I chipped my 2.0 (TFSI)...

I agree with Des.. I don't think a chip is something you'd be impressed with as a gift. You could get a lot more enjoyment out of something else.
Now maybe if you were going to run a full exhaust, huge cam with an upgraded valvetrain, then yeah, you'd get a lot more enjoyment out of the car. A chip alone might give you 8hp, and you'd have to run premium. Not worth it IMO. |

I agree 2
. Might not be worth the money. I do plan full exhaust upgrade, and mild cam/lifters and springs and more, but not all at once. Piece by piece, and with the chip, I think every step will taste sweeter. And I run premium all the time ![]() |

There you go SMG
I am not planing to go racing or 1/4 mile track. I am VW enthusiast and I want mu bug to run full capacity. I hope chipping will remap and unite all the upgrades I am planning to do in the future....long future I heard Giac, REVO and APR are aggresive, build for big time upgrades and big engines. I am looking for mild boost that will grow as mu bug grows, something that will not kill mu daily ride. I think Unitronic is the one.... as loong it's not farting ![]() |

So I have no choice
But I would like to hear from people that have chipped their 2.0 8v Beetles. Any chip! I know you have Neuspeed program uploaded with supercharger and I don't think you can tell me what it did to your 2.0 since it's a big upgrade all at once. I bet it rocks eh? |
