Default Removing positive battery cable loss of radio!!

I was trying to reset the Check Engine Light and when I disconnected the battery positive cable, and reconnected I lost the radio. It says SAFE on the screen and none of the controlls seem to work. There is no sound, no FM or AM. I haven't figured out what to do, anyone know?
Thanks

You need your radio code and your manual for how to key it back in. If you don't have your radio code, you need to get it from the dealer based on your VIN. Be advised that some dealerships charge for this. There is a member here who might be able to get it for you. Do a search for "radio code" and you should find it. Its a fairly recent thread.

Your radio is in safe mode. The code will restore the functionality.

Susan has it.

Note however that disconnecting the battery cable will NOT clear a CEL. In addition...you shouldn't have just removed the positive cable. Always remove the negative terminal first to avoid a possibly shocking situation.

Yeah. Some may not understand this so here's the skinny. The negative side is "grounded" to the car's body, so if while handling the positive battery terminal you touch any metal component of the car you could complete the circuit--battery negative side thru car body and thru you to the battery's positive side. OUCH.

Thumbs up Radio Works Again

Thanks for your help. I found the radio code and put it in and now there's music to my ears. Thanks again.
Now to resolve the CEL engine codes
