Exclamation What need to be replaced???? At 65k

MY NB 2001/2.0 IS CURRENTLY AT 65000 FULL SERVICE HISTORY , HOWEVER DOSNT REALLY GIVE ME DETAILED INFO WHAT TOOK PLACE AT EACH SERVICE.........having learned the hard way by not knowing about the water pump senario (think thats the reason mybug is overheating and leaking its at repair centre now) what else if u could please help me need to be updated, replaced, cleaned etc..........things like filters etc......was last servied at 60k well it says it was anyway!!! as purchased car from rather shady dealer......thanks fellow bug owners all help much appreciated

While they have it apart for the water pump, they may as well do the timing belt since replacement is related

Timing belt and tensioner, serpentine belt. Most important things along with the water pump.

I had all that done along with an oil change and air filter change when I took mine in, mostly because of the convenience, not necessity.

getting cam+tensioner,serpentine+tentioner and waterpump!! £290.00 all in good price!! will also get a new filters for oil,air and fuel when i can afford it but just do it myself i think!! be a big challenge for me i guess......diy on cars is sooooooo not me lol

It would be a good project if you have a repair manual and a full weekend. It can be done in one day but not by the total novice. Take your time and since it's pretty straight forward, you should do ok.

You might consider replacing the thermostat and coolant temp sensor while you have it drained to do the water pump. Neither is a life-of-the-car item.
