Default p1296 code - cooling malfunction

my bug will on / off throw this code . it there a sensor i should replace or flush the radiator . no lights ever come on except for the check eng. light

Default P1296 Code issues solutions

Though it could be many specific things.

There is at least one more:

P1296 Code and lessons learned

It is probably your thermostat or coolant temp sensor. Doubtful if the radiator has anything to do with it; this fault, I believe, is usually the result of the engine not warming up fast enough to suit the ECM.
