Default Timing Belt Change - Special Tool

Hi
We did our first belt replacement at around 80K and are getting ready for the second replacement.
I do not recall any special tools needed. Is there one??
Someone referred to this tool.
http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/image...2/600/8162.jpg
Will this be needed to make life easier?
Thanks
Dan

linky no workie.

but if you are changing the belt, be sure you get their deluxe kit with all the bolts in it.

the only really special tool required is for the tensioner. I assume you have a large floor jack to use to support the motor when the mount is out. the tool is a two pin wrench that can be made easily or substituted easily with some 90 degree needle nose pliers or a s simple as a bent fork if you are REALLY cheap.

LMAO, did my Wife fill you in about me?? Haha..

I'll have a general shop full of basic tools to do this in.. Just no special tools.
Both kits we looked at, ECS and Marquette VW had the bolts. Thanks for the heads up there..

Sorry for the bad link, should be fixed.. It is the two pronged tool as you mentioned..

I'll probably pickup the tool when ordering the parts. I cannot bend up any tools at the shop.
I just do not remember this from the last time.. Oh well..
Thanks for the input!!

either kit, marquette or ECS are good choices.

I prefer to patronize marquette myself due to no shipping or sales tax suprises as I am in ohio and marquette is in PA.

That's probably where we'll go. Sent an email last night, rather late PA time and Dennis responded within several minutes. Customer service is a great thing and goes along way!

I'm lousy with cars of all types and had no trouble. The DIY by Vasilov was outstanding. Patience with removing the motor mount and be sure to carefully follow each step will limit the amount of things you get to do twice. Mine probably took me 8 hours with some wasted motion, I estimate 5 or so hours the next time (probably with some new wasted steps).

Do it!
