Exclamation Head problems

I just got my car back from the dealership after having the new head installed. The car runs great. I had them to return the old head, which only had 56264 miles. I perform a visual inspection of the valves through the exhaust ports, and they don't appear to be bent at all. I asked the mechanic why he diagnosed my car as needing a new head. He informs me that he never said that the old head on my car was defective. The service manager, who has since been fired, told them that I wanted a new head installed, incase the valves were bent. Apparently, they had numerous complaints aboout the service manager who lied to me and fired her. I'm not holding the service manager reponsible, so I'm talking to my lawyer and going to court to have the dealership reimburse me for all of my expense's.

The have acknowledge that there was corruption and are willing to work with me, if I keep my lawyer out of this. TOO LATE. The dealership was sold to a new owner while my car was in the shop. Apparently, the whole dealership has undergone a complete overhaul. How sad that stealership feel the need to lie to their customers.

So, I'll be posting the sale of a complete head in the for sale thread in the very new future.

how did you let them run you for several thou like that?

it would have been cheaper to put a full new motor in.

Wow!

That was some serious $$$... I replaced the cylinder head on my 2.0 this past July; it had a bad head gasket. Did you post any commentary/questions on the ORG prior to seeking dealership assistance?

The car was in Southern Maryland, and there's only one VW dealership in that area. I was lucky to get a NEW Cylinder head for $330.00 from INA Engineering, thanks to a tip from Jordan aka "SMG" I paid for there labor, but supplied all of the parts. Saved approximately $2000.00 buy purchasing my parts from German Auto Parts and INA Engineering.

Wow, saved yourself 2K!

On mine I did not calculate ROI, only the parts cost, but given all the additional parts that I put in, the savings on labor was some serious bucks! All done and said I spent just under $2000...

I saved $1,700.00 alone on the price of the Head. The dealer wanted a little over $2000.00 + tax for the head from VW America. I paid $330.00 for and NEW Head (shipping included and no sales tax) Plus $384.00 for 8 new lifters, I paid $104.00. I had all new Spark Plugs installed. The Dealer wanted $104.00, I paid $24.00. All thanks to INA Engineering and Germanautoparts.com.
