Default What engine do I have?

Hi,
The plastic engine cover says I have a 2.0 gas engine, but I don't know the three character engine code. I don't know where on the engine block to look for the code.
How do I know what engine I have?
Where is the engine code located on the engine?
Thank you,

What year?

It's probably the AEG.

Some years changed engines mid-year (e.g., 2001). The engine code is printed on top of the upper timing belt cover. Remove the engine cover and look on the left (passenger's side) of the engine. Should be pretty obvious.

There might be a label under the carpet in the trunk by the spare tire. Our '06 has one there; have not checked our '02.
