Default Oil in the water

I have a 2003, 2.0L that gets engine oil in the cooling system. I drained the cooling system and flushed it as clean as possible. I added 2 quarts of oil, back to the full level on the dip stick. I can find what looks like new oil in the cooling resevor in a very short time of driving, 20 miles or so. The car runs great and seems to have no other problem other than pumping the engine oil into the water resevor. Got any ideas??,

Two possibilities come to mind - bad oil cooler or blown headgasket.

Not to be pessimistic, but I would go with the bad head gasket.

I vote for the oil cooler. Blown head gasket should put water in the oil.

The oil cooler is cheaper and easier to replace. As a test, you could probably remove the coolant lines (connect them together) and run it that way for a little while. If it's leaking, you should see oil dripping out of the cooler.

This car has only 49000 miles and will be replaced with something other than a VW. I'm fed up with these VW toy cars.

Sorry to hear about your woes regarding your NB; however, I take it from this response that you found out where and how the oil is getting into the water and now you are not happy.

No .... I didn't find the problem, it seems that as soon as one problem is solved another one comes up. I've never had a car with so many issues that need something special from VW.
Example: Coolant, P/S fluid, Trans fluid/levels and that's the short list of common things that should not be a big deal.
