I know that budgets always play into the amount of maintenance and/or repair that any car receives, but if you really want to do this right you will need to remove the head and get it rebuilt or replaced.

It is confirmed there is damage to the valves. I have been quoted worst case scenario of replacing all the valves + machine shop time + the timing belt schtuff. All in all gonna be $1600. That is a hell of a lot better than I was expecting. My mechanic is kewl and going to take payments. Thanks goodness!

Cant complain too much. My 94 Mustang blew a head gasket and that alone cost me $1500 back in 2001.

So my Kaylee Bug is going to be staying with me.

Good news indeed. Not many mechanics are willing to take partial payments. Please make sure and verify with him that he uses new head bolts and new stretch bolts for the motor mounts.

Keep us updated.
