Default Problem starting vehicle

Recently, I was driving down the road after just leaving my home with my vehicle, and I noticed my blinkers weren't working at all. So, to see if I could get them working, I turned off on a side road and turned off the vehicle. After turning it off, all the blinkers worked, but my vehicle wouldn't start. It didn't do anything at all. I have spent the last couple of weeks with everything in working order, but I have looked like a very silly man by push starting my vehicle everywhere I go. I've become sick of it. Any thoughts on what this could be? Again, everything is fine, but when I turn the key all the way to start my car, I get nothing. Oh, and I can't use the key to electronically lock the vehicle anymore and the car alarm does not engage. Also, I'm missing a lot of fuses and am wondering if anyone knows of a fuse diagram for a 2000 VW Beetle? I'm not sure which I should have and which ones I don't need.

EDIT: Just checked, the wiring near the ignition all appears to be fine.

What happened to your car?

I think we'll need a lot more history of the vehicle.

I've really had no problems with the vehicle at all. What happened is as stated above. I turned off the vehicle because the blinkers weren't working. I went to turn it back on, the blinkers worked, but nothing happened when I tried to start it. It didn't even try to turn over. Perhaps problems with the ignition housing or ignition cylinder?

it could be anything from dead cell in a battery to loose cables, or possibly varmants eating the wiring

Off the top of my head, I would agree with your ignition switch and/or steering column suggestion.
