Question A relay problem... I think

Hey everyone. I have a 2001 NB GL 2.0 about 3 days ago I frist noticed I was unable to adjust my fan speed for climate control. Then I noticed my turn signals, wipers, and rear defrost are all not working. I have checked the fuse box but all are good. Want to check to relays, however when I bought the car it did not come with a owners manual. any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Incase anyone happens to have, or develop this same issue it’s the ignition switch that caused mine to not work, though it could also happen if your power supply relay goes bad. And a big thank you to the techs @ performance VW in Omaha, NE for helping me trouble shoot over the phone, seeing as a live no where near a VW dealership!

The power supply relays are all under the dash right above the drivers feet. I would start with the ignition switch though. it's easy to replace the elc part if it. and if you're willing to buy online, i.e. Auto Parts Warehouse | Car Parts, Truck Parts & Auto Body Parts Online - Free Shipping on most Auto you can get one for like $40. I tested mines by starting my car then carefully pushing the key forward again (like trying to start for a second time.) the fan, lights, ect would come on till I let go. Hope this helps.

Turns out it was the ignition switch. It appears to have shorted out. I took it to the local VW shop and it was a $300 dollar repair.

I'm happy to be back on the road with it and appreciate your advice.

Take care,
John
