Default EPC light?!?!?

The EPC light came on in my 2003 NB on my way to work this morning? The manual doesn't say much about it (EPC = Electronic Power Control). Can anyone explain? It's next to impossible for me to get the car to a mechanic until Friday! HELP!

epc light can come on if the air filter is clogged, the maf is reading erroneously, or a variety of other things. try changing your air filter first, see what happens.

Buy a VAG-COM cable off of Ross Tech or a copy off EBay and then download the trial software from Ross Tech.

read the cars error codes and post them here.

I had this happen to me too - we had been driving around and while accelerating to 60 (highway) I noticed that my EPC was on. And yeah, the manual is vague about details...

For the rest of the afternoon - the duration of turning on, driving, parking, off, errands, on again -- the EPC light was on and off... It never flashed, and there was never a loss/reduction in power.

It is now off and has stayed off. Should I be concerned?

Talking

Same for you buy a vag-com cable and read your own codes.

Otherwise if the light is off don't panic !!

If the light has flashed an error the code will be logged on the car's computer.
