Yeah. I have the paper work on the cat and the warranty stuff. It is a good one, put on by a very reputable shop in my town.

No O2 sensors have been replaced, and my local VW guy said he didn't know if changing the O2's would get rid of that specific code, but I disagree with him and will probably change them out if the light comes back on.

In the mean time, I am fairly positive there isn't a Vag-com in my area. I live in rural iowa lol... i really want one of my own, but just don't have the funds right now.

One other piece of good news, coming up on three weeks with no check engine light! *knocks on wood*

Cool......I had the same issue with that code and i agree with you... If that code comes back replace the post O2 sensor as this is the one that samples after the Cat and throws that code... I believe it says bank 1 on the scan for that code. I replaced both of mine as i figured that if one was gone the other won't be long for this world either...Since i have done all this work i have not had any CELS period...GL....KP....

I jinxed myself! Check engine light came on today.

P2181 Cooling System Performance Malfunction
P0420 Catalytic Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1

The saga continues.

Looks like O2 sensors are in order. As for the cooling system one, I'm almost out of ideas for that one... It had been gone for a long time and now just shows back up randomly...

Well i found some info.... 1.Could still be the coolant temp sensor or the wiring to or from the sensor...(faulty sensor)2.Doe's this car have the metal impeller water pump in it? 3. Could also be the thermostat (faulty new i know). Probably your best plan would be too start by doing a coolant test(% of coolant to water) then a coolant presure test. Also do your cooling fan's run normally ??? If you do a search of that code you'll also gain some insite.... GL...KP...
