I normally get that much when it is really cold out side, when spring/summer comes around it disapears. As for the SAP, I think that depends on where in the us the car was originally designed to be sold such as cali or any other state with stricter emmissions standards. My NB does not have one either.

OK, one to many surprises today.

Here are the Plugs, Wires and Coil DIY Thread and here is the Front (Forward) O2 Sensor DIY Thread and here is the Rear (Aft) O2 Sensor DIY Thread.

So for some unknown reason I decided the check for any eBahn updates; apparently the online update is not forever, you have buy an "online update" license!

So I will look at everything again tomorrow and next week find out what an online update costs.

LOL

I know, I have the same problem.

Hopefully today I will resolve them all. Despite my NB knowledge I do not have an O2 Sensor tool; had to get one. Also my eBahn DVD has a $65 yearly renewal for software updates.

I try to get by without special tools if I really don't need them, but this is one that I'm glad I have. On the surface the sensor is just a large hex nut, but when I did my front one I pushed so hard on the breaker bar I raised the car two inches on the suspension before it broke loose.

Ok, all parts have been installed and it is running smoothly. I will drive to work and back tomorrow for the official road test.

Now to put the Plugs, Wires and Coil DIY together and the Forward O2 Sensor DIY.

I made a VW spark plug cap puller from a piece of 3/4 inch copper tubing. I found a template to wrap around it and then cut it out with a dremel. Have about a $1 in it. Actually worked great.

Well HiLiter has had this issue since day one, but I just have not done anything about it as it rarely gets gets cold enough here for it to happen ... one of the rear brake calipers freeze when the eBrake is used if it drops into the twenties overnight.

I have read a few posts some time ago about it and if I remember correctly the solution is to replace the caliper. Well it looks like I will not be able to ignore it this time, as it seems both are now freezing up.

I can't believe brake fliud would freeze at 20 degrees. How old is the fluid? Could it have absorbed enough moisture to lower the freezing temperature of the fluid? Or is Crud in the caliper freezing up and hanging up the caliper?

Just food for thought

Hope you figure it out

The fluid is fine, it has to do with the e-brake connection to the caliper; some how moisture gets in there and it freezes. Releasing the e-brake does not release the brake.

Which side Frank? After replacing my brakes all around after 70K miles, my ps rear pads and rotor were shot. Now, that side is sticking with the parking brake on. I am off for 2 weeks after this week and I'm going to look at it and hopefully just lube it up. It's kind of weird because I had to rebuild the ds rear caliper as the bottom bolt was frozen.

Not certain which side; I am just going to replace both of them.

To my knowledge if the problem is with the e-brake cable connection, it cannot be fixed; the only option is to replace the caliper.

Well when it rains it pours; well I drove my oldest sons NB yesterday and heard this nasty sound. After a brief investigation it seems that the timing belt tensioner bearings are going out. So I have ordered a Timing Belt kit and hopefully it will be in by Saturday, so I can put it in before something really goes wrong ... (knocks on wood).

Ok, so it is official Murphy hates you. I think you need to get your mojo adjusted. Hopefully TOD can do it.

Sorry to hear about the tensioner.
